NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY EXTEND DEADLINE FOR INDIVIDUALS

New York, NY — March 21, 2021

We are now updating the information we sent regarding the IRS Federal Filing.  The States of New York and New Jersey have announced they will match the Federal filing date of May 17 for individual filing and payment date.

The New York State due date for personal income tax returns, and related tax payments, for the 2020 tax year has been extended from from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.  Accordingly, 2020 personal income tax returns originally due on April 15, 2021, and related payments of tax, will not be subject to penalties or interest if filed and paid by May 17, 2021.

The New Jersey state income tax filing and payment due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021, to mirror actions taken by the IRS.

1st Quarter Estimated Tax Payments Due date is Not Changed

For those individuals who make quarterly estimated tax payments, the IRS, New Jersey and New York have not extended the payment date for first quarter estimated tax payments, and those payments are still due April 15, 2021.

If you have any questions, please email or call.

Wishing you all continued good health and safety.
